All hail the birthday girl

Below is Allison waking up on her big day.

We serenaded her with the birthday song over a nice mashed-banana breakfast.
Below is a tray of items representing possible career paths. Dougherty family lore says the new 1-year-old will grow up to fill the role represented by whichever item she chooses first.
Allison brushes by $100 in favor of a marker. Starving artist, perhaps?

Time for cake!

Time for presents!

Happy Birthday!! It is crazy that they are already One!! It seems like yesterday that you and I were walking around big and round!! It's a bitter\sweet moment for me. They are growing up so fast!! I see why some people have a million kids!! It's hard to imagine that one day soon, there will be no more little ones running around! For me anyways!

Happy first Birthday! What a fun day for her. By the way we have that special plate too, isn't it so fun?

I can't believe she's one already! They have to stop growing so fast! It looks like she had a great birthday and did a spectacular job on the cake. Adorable post!

That is the best birthday tradition. Maybe highlighter means journalist, like her dad.

That was kind of hilarious. Passing up the money for what ultimately could be the opposite of money... I should know (as a starving artist myself). Also I want to say- she looks so much like Marcus in that last little picture! But of course, she maintains her adorable girlness! Just a resemblance.
